Ureteric stent

  • A ureteric stent (JJ stent, double J stent, double pigtail stent) has been placed to relieve ureteric obstruction.
  • The stent is made up of a long tube located in the ureter with 'pigtail' coils at each end, located in the renal pelvis and the bladder, which hold it in place.

  • The pigtail coil is sited in the renal pelvis.
