Gastrostomy tube

  • Gastrostomy tubes vary in design and can be inserted using endoscopy (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy - PEG) or using X-ray guidance (Radiologically Inserted Gastrostomy - RIG).
  • The gastrostomy tube is mostly external with only a small portion passing deep to skin and into the stomach. The external 'bumper' lies against the skin. The internal 'bumper' lies against the inner stomach wall.
